“Lunar New Year” is celebrated by many Asian communities and begins on 29th January 2025, marking the arrival of the Year of the Snake in the Chinese Zodiac. This vibrant festival features red decorations, family get togethers, delicious food, dancing dragons, parades and festive fireworks, celebrating joy for several days.
Across our settings, we strive to offer children opportunities to explore various cultures and traditions from around the globe, helping them understand and connect with the wider world around them.
At Tiny Toez @ Hunter House, they have been super busy celebrating the Lunar New Year with a variety of different activities.
They had a wonderful time using chopsticks to pick up colourful noodles, which helped enhance their fine motor skills. They also enjoyed decorating fans and exploring with the vibrant rice snake.
Additionally, they read the story ‘Lanterns and Firecrackers’ which is a simple introduction to the festival. It follows a family as they let off firecrackers, watch the amazing dragon dance and light their beautiful lanterns to celebrate the start of their New Year.
These activities all provide an opportunity for our children to understand the world and learn about other cultures.
