“Lunar New Year” is celebrated by many Asian communities and begins on 29th January 2025, marking the arrival of the Year of the Snake in the Chinese Zodiac. This vibrant festival features red decorations, family get togethers, delicious food, dancing dragons, parades and festive fireworks, celebrating joy for several days.
Across our settings, we strive to offer children opportunities to explore various cultures and traditions from around the globe, helping them understand and connect with the wider world around them.
At Tiny Toez @ Tamworth, the children have been having a wonderful time celebrating Lunar New Year! To fully embrace this event, the children engaged in a variety of fun activities.
They have dived into learning about the vibrant traditions and colourful customs that make this celebration so special, all while enjoying some tasty treats from the culture.
They have been exploring different activities to help them learn and celebrate this event. They have enjoyed various rice activities, played with noodles, made their own red playdough, learnt about the different animals associated with the years and have even made their very own dragon!
The many traditions of this festival have provided fantastic opportunities for all children in nursery to broaden their understanding of the world around them.
It’s been delightful to see their enthusiasm and curiosity as they discover the significance of the Lunar New Year!!
