“Lunar New Year” is celebrated by many Asian communities and begins on 29th January 2025, marking the arrival of the Year of the Snake in the Chinese Zodiac. This vibrant festival features red decorations, family get togethers, delicious food, dancing dragons, parades and festive fireworks, celebrating joy for several days.
Across our settings, we strive to offer children opportunities to explore various cultures and traditions from around the globe, helping them understand and connect with the wider world around them.
At Tiny Toez @ Westfield, they have been celebrating the Lunar New Year with lots of fun and exciting activities! The children have explored books about the festival, and listened to traditional stories of how different families celebrate the occasion.
The Baby Toez children had fun exploring different textures such as dry and wet noodles, crunching fortune cookies, and enjoyed tipping and pouring using Chinese food containers. They also created lovely blossom pictures using bottles.
Meanwhile the Big Toez children have been busy creatively decorating a snake, they chose the colours that they would like to add to the snake and used a variety of tools to make unique marks.
The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the vibrant culture and traditions of this delightful celebration!
